What's new
Marianna successfully defended her PhD Thesis by the title "SHAPE the Wireless Traffic in the Home Network", on July 11, 2011, in front of a jury composed of
Professor Ramesh Govindan (University of Southern California),
Professor Andrzej Duda (Grenoble INP-Ensimag),
Professor Claudio Casetti (Politecnico di Torino),
Professor Matthieu Latapy (LIP6 UPMC),
Professor Serge Fdida (LIP6 UPMC), and

Work & Interests
Marianna works on characterizing and understanding the
behavior of wireless links. She is recently focusing on
Wireless Home Networking. Her goal is to enable multimedia
traffic on 802.11-based home networks, by the introduction
of smart APs, requiring no modifications to existing end
devices.
Her advisor is Martin May.
During the PhD studies, Marianna enjoyed
spending five months at the
Embedded Networks Laboratory
(University of Southern California),
working with Professor
Ramesh Govindan, Professor
Konstantinos Psounis and
Ki-Young Jang.

Short Bio
Marianna was born in Pinerolo, nearby Torino (Italy),
in 1983. She studied Computer
Science Engineering at Politecnico
di Torino,
obtaining her BSc in Sept 2005 and MSc in Feb 2008, graduating cum
laude. As part of her Master studies she spent one year at Eurecom,
in Sophia Antipolis (France), where she obtained (Sept 2007) a Master
Recherche in Network and Distribuited System (“Sciences et technologies
de l'information et de la communication, Réseaux et systèmes
distribués”).
She prepared her Master Thesis “Implementation
And Evaluation of a MAC-aware Link Cost Metric for Wireless Mesh
Networks”, at the Thomson
Paris Research Lab (now Technicolor Research and Innovation Lab), with Henrik
Lundgren, Theodoros
Salonidis and Christophe
Diot.
She's currently a PhD Student at Technicolor Research and Innovation Lab in Paris,
supervised by Martin May.
